A gathering place for great minds

Prof. James Kakalios will be on National Public Radio's Talk of the Nation on Monday, May 5 at 2:30 PM.

Prof. G. J. Wasserburg, Cal Tech, will speak on Wednesday, May 7 at 4:00 p.m. in Physics 131.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to congratulate School of Physics and Astronomy graduates at the Graduation Reception. The party starts at 4:30 p.m. in 216 physics on Friday, May 9. Refreshments will be served.

Prof. Roberta Humphreys received the 2008 Mullen/Spector/Truax Women's Leadership Award.

A University of Minnesota QuarkNet team from Centennial Senior High School was one of six chosen from the United States to travel to Geneva, Switzerland (CERN).

Applications are now being accepted for the summer 2008 QuarkNet program. Deadline for application is April 4, 2008.

QuarkNet is a five-day workshop for physical science teachers designed to help bring the world of particle physics into high schools.

Applications are now being taken for Undergraduate Scholarships for 2008-2009. Deadline for application is March 28, 2008.

The Fine Theoretical Physics Institute (FTPI) will sponsor the Eighth Workshop on Continuous Advances in QCD, from May 15-18 on the Minneapolis Campus of the University of Minnesota.
