The Hoff Lu Fellowship,

                                                       

a scholarship for graduate students was awarded to Shun Wang. Created by sons Mike and Lester Lu, this fellowship was endowed with in honor of their father, the late Hoff Lu (Ph.D. 1941) Lu was a distinguished alumnus of the University, working in Al Nier's laboratory during the period when the Professor completed his famous work on U235 and U238. Hoff Lu is known as the father of theoretical nuclear physics in China.

Shivaraj Kandhasamy, Hoff Lu Fellowship

Shivaraj is interested in the search for gravitational waves using the LIGO experiment. He plans to use his fellowship as summer research support. He is originally from India.

Shun Wang

Shun Wang

Wang's research area of interest is condensed matter physics experiment.
He is doing research on liquid crystals. He used the money from the Hoff Lu Fellowship to cover his tuition and payment for the summer. Wang is originally from China.
