Kakalios Receives Public Engagement in Science Award

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has named James Kakalios as the recipient of the 2014 AAAS Public Engagement with Science Award, recognizing "the unique ways he communicates the ideas and excitement of physics" and stimulates members of the general public to learn more about developments in science and technology that shape their lives." Geller to Deliver Van Vleck Colloquium and Public Lecture

Margaret J. Geller, Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics will give a colloquium on the "Ultimate Mass of Galaxy Clusters" at 3:35 on Wednesday, April 22 in 150 Tate. In addition, she will deliver the 2015 Van Vleck Lecture on the topic of "Click: The 3D Universe" on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in 150 Tate Laboratory of Physics. Rafael Fernandes

Fernandes named McKnight Professor

Rafael Fernandes was named a 2015-2017 McKnight Land-Grant Professor for his research, which "combines theoretical models and close collaboration with experimental groups to unravel the relationship between the microscopic behavior of quantum materials and their macroscopic properties."

Physics Force at Northrop Auditorium

The Physics Force will present their annual Physics Circus for area school children. The performances will be held at Northrop Auditorium on January 12-16, 2015. The Physics Force will also perform a public show on Thursday, January 15 at 7 PM for other students and the public; it is free. The show lasts about an hour.
