STEREO Launch a success

NASA successfully launched the STEREO or Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatories mission on October 25th.

School of Physics and Astronomy scientists Keith Goetz and Steve Monson designed and built some of the equipment carried aboard the twin spacecraft which will produce the first binocular or 3D look at the sun. Physics research shop technicians, Al Knutson and Ronald Bystrom helped build the equipment. Professors Paul Kellogg and Cynthia Cattell are involved in data analysis for the STEREO project.
