Physics Open House


The Physics Open House will be held Thursday, November 20th. The Open House is a chance for undergraduates to become aquianted with

the department by exploring the laboratories and learning about the broad possibilities of a major in physics. The schedule is as follows:

Physics Open House

Literature and schedules available near Room 150 at the main entrance of the Physics Building off Northrop Mall will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a good opportunity to talk to physics majors and Society of Physics Students (SPS), view posters on research programs in the School and see some cool demonstrations.

There will be a Pizza lunch and videos in Room 130. (Pizza arrives in 2 shifts) from Noon to 1:30 p.m. Students will also be able to tour the research and teaching labs. Those interested in the tours should meet in Room 130 at the time listed below and see it firsthand. All tours are about 15 minutes long.

12:00 p.m. Huang Lab: Liquid Crystals. Tour by Sun Tao Wang
12:20 p.m. Mueller Lab: Biological fluorescence spectroscopy for protein dynamics. Tour by Joseph Skinner
12:50 p.m. Crowell Lab: Spin Transport and Spin Dynamics. Tour by Rob Compton
1:20 p.m. Junior Physics Majors “Modern Exp. Methods” Teaching Lab Tour by Kurt Wick
