The third semester of the upper division 4001-4002 physics sequence covers electrodynamics and wave phenomena. The topics include electromagnetic waves in vacuum and in matter, radiating systems and diffraction, wave guides, interference phenomena, polarization and birefringence, optical properties of materials, non-linear optics, waves in elastic media and fluids, and acoustics.
