Research Areas: Electronic properties of organic semiconductors, including thermopower and 1/f noise measurement .
There is presently a great deal of interest in the electronic properties of molecular organic semiconductors, driven in part by their suitability for large-area devices due to their low cost and structural flexibility. This difference in activation energies from the dark conductivity and that from the thermopower measurement for a-Si films is typically ascribed to the presence of long-range disorder, either compositional modulations or potential fluctuations, which introduce energy barriers to the flow of current. An open question is whether this is also the case for organic semiconductors, and what role, if any, long range disorder plays in determining electronic transport in these organics crystals.
