Current Research

Using a combination of theory, data, and computer models I work to better understand the ways in which planetary magnetospheres (particularly Earth's) are affected by large-scale transient phenomena. Specifically, I study the long-period electromagnetic waves that are generated when the magnetosphere is disturbed by mechanisms such as plasma instabilities and magnetic storms.
