Stuart F. Goldstein (B.A. 1962, Advisor: O. Schmidt)

My advisor was Otto Schmidt. After graduation, I got my Ph.D. in physics in 1968 at Caltech.

I am a Professor Emeritus of Genetics, Cell Biology and Development at the U of MN, TC campus. I am married with children, living in Minneapolis. I retired last year after 42 years on the UMN faculty in College of Biological Sciences. As an undergrad, I worked in Otto Schmitt's biophysics lab. I not only learned electronics, but I got to see research being done, meet researchers (including graduate students), and verify that I wanted to get a Ph.D. and do research. J. Morris Blair's electronics course was a terrific one-year introduction to circuits. My notes for that course are the only ones I still have - after 50 years! Lawrence Johnston was one of the best teachers I ever had, for any subject.
