Live from the Soudan Underground Mine

                                                       

Minnesota Public Radio and Rachel Reabe explored the Soudan Underground Mine State Park, including the MINOS experiment. in a two-part episode of Mainstreet Radio.

The 6000 ton MINOS far detector, which is being built in a chamber of the mine, will search for neutrino oscillations. The University of Minnesota plays a key role in the MINOS project, a collaboration between 30 elementary particle physics groups in five countries. The MINOS experiment was recently dedicated with a ceremony that took place on July 2, 2002. The Department of Natural Resources will soon include a tour of part of the MINOS facility as a special addition to their underground mine tours.
